As a ‘Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’ Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) I aim to teach pupils to drive in a way that will establish safe driving habits for life. Whilst passing the driving test is a priority, keeping new drivers safe on the road is also essential, so I feel it can be dangerous to push pupils to do their test before they are fully ready.
I’m sure most people are aware the Covid 19 pandemic has created a massive backlog in driving lessons and tests. While lessons are taking place much as they were before Covid, with additional cleaning, windows open and wearing of mask,s driving tests only got back to full capacity in August 2021. Consequently there is a long wait for test bookings which means pupils who would normally have passed and moved on long ago, are still neeeding regular lessons. In addition several Instructors in the Hexham area have retired in recent months, with the result that most of us still have long waiting lists. Please bear with us and we will work our way through as many pupils as we can.
As with all ADIs , the DVSA has to approve us as ‘fit and proper people’ which includes an enhanced DBS check (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau Check).
I teach in a Renault Clio, fitted with dual controls for safety, and cover the Tyne Valley area from Hexham to Prudhoe, and immediate area.
Prices for 2023 are £33 per hour. Currently I am not taking block payments, as though I hope we will not have any further lockdowns, I will keep to payments on the day for the moment.
